    Vikram Panchal is an industrial designer and specializes in Product Design. He graduated from National Institute of Design and joined NID in 1981 as faculty member and teaches skill courses and design projects in Product, Furniture, Ceramic and Exhibition Design and guides Diploma projects.

    Apart from academics, Vikram has actively taken on responsibilities and co-ordinated several programmes and disciplines at NID, including Product Design, Innovation Lab, Faculty Training Programme, Foundation Programme and Grassroot Innovation and Design (GRID). He represented NID at the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) 1989 at Japan. He had been a member of the Governing Council at NID.

    Vikram has worked in the field of design as design educator, professional industrial designer, team member, project head and inventor of products.

    He has worked and developed various projects for the healthcare sector and the physically-challenged, such as Barefoot Orthotics, Low-level Mobility Device, Foot-operated wood turning lathe, Multi-functional Wheelchair for Children and Adults, Load-carrier for Labour and needle for hand-stitching for national and international organizations. He has also worked on various consumer products, machines, trophy, packaging and memento. He has published widely, participated in national and international events, conducted training programmes for engineers and designers, gained recognition at national and international competitions and is a member of reputed bodies such as International Center for the Advancement of Community Based Rehabilitation Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada and the Bureau of Indian Standards, New Delhi.

    He has design credit for Registration / Patent for several products such as Electric plug, telephone, Needle, Load carrier Head, Load carrier back and, Load carrier trolley. He received “National Award “from president of India Mr. R. Venkataraman for design of Wheel chair for physically challenged children and adults.
